Where Should You Share Your New Professional Headshot?

After investing in professional headshot photography, don't let your images sit in a folder on your computer. Put them to work.

1. LinkedIn — Your Professional First Impression

LinkedIn is one of the most important platforms for sharing professional headshots. Whether you're searching for career opportunities, networking with local Lancaster businesses, or building your professional reputation, an updated LinkedIn headshot helps people recognize you. But don't just change your profile photo. Create a post introducing yourself again. Share your current role, your professional goals, or what you're working on.

2. Facebook — Remind Your Personal Network

Your Facebook friends may know you personally, but that doesn't mean they understand your professional life. Share your new business portrait along with a short update about your work. Friends and family can become some of your strongest referral sources, but they need to know what you currently do.

3. Instagram — Put a Face to Your Business

For entrepreneurs, creatives, and small business owners, Instagram can be a great place to share personal branding photography. People want to see the person behind the business. Share your headshot and talk about your story, your services, or something you're passionate about.

4. Your Business Website — Build Trust

Your website should reflect who you are today. Update your About page, team profiles, and professional biography with current portraits. For business owners in Lancaster County and surrounding Pennsylvania communities, professional business photography can help create a more consistent and trustworthy online presence.

5. Email Signatures — Make Communication Personal

Consider adding your professional headshot to your email signature. It can help clients, colleagues, and potential customers connect a face to your name.

6. Google Business Profile and Professional Directories

If you own a business, consider sharing your updated professional portrait on your Google Business Profile where appropriate. Customers often want to know who is behind the business before reaching out. You can also update your Lancaster Chamber profile, industry association directories, speaking biographies, and other professional listings. Keeping your business photography consistent across platforms makes your brand easier to recognize.

Don't Just Share Your Headshot. Share Your Story.

Here's something I encourage clients who visit my Lancaster photography studio to think about. When you share your new headshot, don't feel pressured to write something overly clever or promotional. Just be yourself. Tell people what you're doing now.

For example:

"Thought it was time for an updated professional headshot and a little reintroduction! For those who don't know, I'm currently working in [your profession], helping people with [your specialty]. I've really enjoyed [something meaningful about your work]. If we haven't connected in a while, I'd love to hear what you've been up to!"

You're not asking anyone to buy something. You're giving people a chance to reconnect. And the next time someone asks if they know a person who offers your services, your name might come to mind.
